Recommended Screensizes for HDTVs

What screen size is recommended for what viewing distance? The following chart shows you if the PN50C450 is the HDTV of your choice or how it should be placed correctly:

In general, there is a very easy formula to calculate the minimum and maximum viewing distance:

Minimum display size in inches = Viewing distance in inches divided by 3

Maximum display size in inches = Viewing distance in inches divided by 1.5

This is just a rough calculation, individual perception varies alot and depends on the screen as well. For plasma screens the picture doesn’t become as blurry as for LCD displays if you are sitting too close. If you are used to small CRT TV, you’ll probably enjoy a screen size far smaller than the calculated minumum as well.
